US-UAE Business Council

Initiatives

Commercial Trade & Foreign Direct Investment

The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council is committed to advancing a strong advocacy program for increased commercial trade and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).  The U.S. and the U.A.E. currently share one of the fastest growing commercial and trade partnerships in the world, which is highlighted by the dramatic rise in U.S. exports and FDI flowing into the Middle East growing from $3.6 billion in 2002 to $15.7 billion in 2008.  The U.A.E. has emerged as America’s largest export market in the Middle East, and is working to ensure that the U.S. remains an attractive destination for exports from the U.A.E.  The Council’s diverse focus includes boosting trade in sustainable energy, cultural items, banking, defense, infrastructure, and education.

Industry and Manufacturing

The U.A.E. is unique in that its government-mandated industrial protocol encourages foreign investment and involvement.  There are industrial “free zones” throughout the U.A.E. where foreign industry and trade benefits from the relaxed trade laws governing the zones; allowing for foreign companies to establish their factories and plants in proximity to their suppliers in the region, catalyzing efficiency.

Industrial & Manufacturing Sectors in the U.A.E.:

Aerospace & Defense
Chemical & Plastic Industry
Civil Nuclear Energy
Renewable Energy and Green Building
Healthcare Products
Building Material & Construction
Petrochemicals
Oil & Mining
Infrastructure Development

Infrastructure Vital to Industry/Manufacturing

The U.A.E.’s industrial and manufacturing sectors are fueled by a rapidly growing infrastructure that is mandated by the Critical National Infrastructure Authority (CNIA), a government body committed to protecting the U.A.E.’s infrastructure and the preservation of the country’s economic stability.  The CNIA is dedicated to ensuring maximum national security without impeding the flow of commerce.  The CNIA is the U.A.E.’s primary homeland security organization, facilitating economic growth and optimal defense.
