Civil Nuclear Energy
Following the passage of the U.S.-U.A.E. Peaceful Civilian Nuclear Energy Agreement in December, 2009 and the selection by the U.A.E. of a prime contractor to build the first four reactors, the Council will continue to support implementation of the 123 U.S.-U.A.E. Peaceful Civilian Nuclear Energy Agreement and will advocate for additional U.S. business opportunities. The Council and the Nuclear Energy Institute plan to jointly lead multiple trade missions to the U.A.E. to grow and expand relationships with U.A.E. civilian nuclear energy decision makers, developers and contractors. The first such trade mission occurred on 22-24 February, 2010 in Abu Dhabi. Participants received briefings on the latest developments in the U.A.E. Civilian Nuclear Energy Program, updates in the bidding process for secondary contracts, and insights from American & Emirati businesses on the most effective ways to create partnerships to secure secondary contracts. Participants learned essential legal and regulatory measures governing U.S.-U.A.E. commercial nuclear energy trade and meet potential business & government partners.
