U.A.E. Consul General to New York Majid Al Suwaidi discusses economic growth opportunities with Atlanta-based businesses

U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council President Danny Sebright and His Excellency Majid Al-Suwaidi, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in New York, visited Atlanta this week to foster and expand U.S. and U.A.E. business and cultural relationships.

H.E. Al-Suwaidi began his visit with a tour of General Electric’s (GE) Remote Monitoring & Diagnostics Center. Following a high-level meeting with GE Power leadership, H.E. Al-Suwaidi met with representatives from the Georgia Department of Economic Development for a private, closed-door discussion and enjoyed a cultural tour of Atlanta.

H.E. Al-Suwaidi was greeted by members of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta the following day. During his presentation, H.E. Al-Suwaidi underscored the strong trade and commercial partnership between the two states.

“I am honored by the warm welcome from the Atlanta business community, an important partner for us as we continue to strengthen our economic ties with Georgia,” said H.E. Majid Al-Suwaidi. “Georgia is the 9th largest exporter of goods from the U.S. to the U.A.E. and we look to grow this relationship significantly in the years to come. In 2016, bilateral trade between the two countries reached $25.73 billion, surpassing 2015 by $265 million.”

During his trip, H.E. Al-Suwaidi also met with MBA students from Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business to discuss entrepreneurship and innovation in the U.A.E.

H.E. Al-Suwaidi concluded his visit to Atlanta with a tour of The Coca Cola Company headquarters and a closed-door meeting with Brian Smith, President of the Europe, Middle East and Africa Group, before returning to New York.
